What Parents Need To Know About The Importance Of Water For Children

For most parents, giving the types of food that are healthy and nutritious for their kids is one of the most important responsibilities they should never compromise. Although this is actually true, giving enough water to the children is equally important as well.

It is a must for parents to know the importance of water for children especially on a daily basis because this can help them become healthier and away from sickness. Children really need more water as compared to adults because they have a higher proportion of water inside their bodies which needs to be replenished. And since most kids have low tolerance to heat, they will be more susceptible to dehydration if they do not have enough water in their body.

When they are playing outside with other kids, especially during summer in a hot climate, kids are very vulnerable to dehydration. And ensuring they have enough water to sustain them throughout the day is very important. And because of this, parents are encouraged to always remind their kids to drink lots of water on a daily basis. Since most children have a tendency to forget drinking water especially when they are so engrossed with their daily activities, it is always an advantage to remind them to always drink enough water.

You can also give them their own water jug so they can always drink water whenever they feel the need to and do not have to walk far just to find water. According to health experts, the amount of water that every child should drink on a daily basis depends of a number of factors such as their age, their gender, the type of weather in your area and how physically active they can get in a day. Typically, the ideal amount of water that a child needs to drink is between six to eight glasses a day. You can also give other types of beverages aside from water for variations.

Certainly, most beverages contain water and some provide vitamins and minerals that their growing bodies need. However, some drinks may also contain sugar and/or energy. So when you give your kids drinks with too much energy on a regular basis, they may gain weight over time. So limit these types of beverages and focus more on giving your children plain water.
